激しく泣いたり、長時間泣いたりして、頭が痛くなったという経験はありませんか?泣くことでストレス発散になってすっきりするということもありますが、あまりにも泣きすぎてしまうと頭痛が起こって余計に辛くなるということもあります。

ここでは、泣くことで起こる頭痛の理由とその対処法について紹介します。泣いても次の日からすっきりした気持ちで過ごしたいですね。

泣いたときに起こる頭痛の原因には、緊張型頭痛が考えられます。

緊張型頭痛は、後頭部を中心に左右両方が痛んだり、頭を押さえつけられるような痛みが生じたりします。また、気づかないうちに重だるい感じや圧迫感が始まり、その症状が改善することなくいつまでも続きます。頭痛とともに首や肩が凝ったり、目に痛みを生じたりするもありますが、吐き気を伴うことはありません。

身体的なストレスや精神的なストレスによって緊張型頭痛が起こるとされています。

身体的なストレスとは、前かがみなどの無理な姿勢がずっと続くと、頭から肩にかけての筋肉が硬くなって血行が悪くなります。すると、乳酸などの疲労物質が筋肉にたまって神経を刺激し、痛みを生じさせます。特に、首筋の筋肉が弱い女性は、頭部をしっかりと支えることができず、頭痛を起こしやすいです。

精神的なストレスとは、精神的に緊張した状態が長期間続くことによって、脳の痛みを調節する部分がうまく機能しなくなり、頭痛を起こしてしまいます。身体の筋肉の緊張がなくても精神的なストレスによる緊張型頭痛は起こり、生真面目な性格や几帳面な人ほどかかりやすいと言われています。

泣くことで起こる頭痛の対処法

泣くことで起こる緊張型頭痛では、温めたり頭痛に効果のあるツボを押したりして対処しましょう。鎮痛薬は効果がない場合が多いので、鎮痛剤を飲まないで対処することをおすすめします。

①肩を温める

頭や首、肩周辺の筋肉が凝り固まると、頭が血行不良の状態になります。後頭部から首、肩、背中の上部までの広い範囲を温めるといいでしょう。筋肉のコリがほぐされて、圧迫されていた神経も和らぎ、血行が促進されて、頭にしっかり血液が流れ込みやすくなります。

温める方法にはさまざまあります。例えば、蒸しタオルの上からドライヤーを当てるという方法があります。うつぶせに寝て、たたんだ蒸しタオルを後頭部から背中の辺りにかけ、その上からドライヤーを当てて患部を温めます。タオルを熱くしすぎないことがポイントです。また、市販の温熱シートを利用するという方法もあります。市販の温熱シートを利用すると、じんわり気持ちのいい蒸気が患部の奥深くまで温めてくれます。蒸しタオルを作るのが面倒という方はおすすめです。他にも、後頭部から背中にかけて、温シャワーを当てるという方法もいいです。マッサージ効果もあり、首や肩の緊張がとけてリラックスできます。

②ツボを押す

筋肉の緊張をほぐし、血行をよくしてくれるツボを紹介します。

まず、目尻の外側に太陽というツボがあります。目尻に人差し指を当てて、ゆっくりと顔の外側に移動させます。目尻から少し離れたところに大きな凹みがありますので、その部分をゆっくりと押します。注意点は、目に近いツボということで眼球を押さないようにするということです。

また、首の上の方にある天柱というツボは、頭と首の境目にあり、頭を後ろに倒すと分かりやすいです。後頭部には2本の筋肉が通っていますが、手で触るとよく分かります。天柱は、頭を倒した首との境目、2本の筋肉の間にあります。できるだけ頭と首に指で差すように構えてじっくり押します。

手にある合谷のツボは、親指と人差し指のの骨の延長線上でちょうど骨が重なっている部分にあります。逆の手の親指でゆっくりと押すといいでしょう。
