これって陣痛!?~不安を抱えるお母さんへ送る臨月の腰痛あれこれ~

臨月は、赤ちゃんと対面できる楽しみと、出産への不安が入り混じるため、精神的に少し不安定な時期ですね。特に初産の妊婦さんは、出産への恐怖が加わることもあるので、余計に不安定になりがちです。中には赤ちゃんと対面できる楽しみを感じられるほどの余裕がなくなってしまうかたもいることでしょう。

それに加え、お腹の張りや腰痛に悩まされることもあり、特に初産のかたの不安は増すばかりですね。

今日は、そんな妊婦さんの不安を少しでも軽くするお手伝いをさせていただこうと思います。

妊娠期間中、腰痛に悩まされる妊婦さんは少なくありません。臨月も例外ではありませんが、臨月の腰痛はそれまでの腰痛と大きく異なるかもしれません。出産の練習である可能性や陣痛の可能性があるからです。

臨月の腰痛はちょっと違う!?

妊娠期間中、頻繁に腰痛に悩まされてきたかたも多いのではないでしょうか。妊娠期間中の腰痛は、ホルモン分泌の影響や重心が変化することで負荷がかかることによるものが大半です。

これまでの妊娠期間中に腰痛とは無縁だったかたも、臨月になると赤ちゃんの頭が下がって腰を圧迫するようになるので、腰痛を感じることがあるかもしれません。

臨月の腰痛はそれまでの腰痛とは少し違ったものが原因となっている場合があります。前駆陣痛または、陣痛によるものです。

本番前のリハーサル

出産を控えている妊婦のみなさんは、前駆陣痛という言葉を耳にしたことがあるかたが多いですよね。

前駆陣痛とは、言わば本番前のリハーサルのようなもので、分娩にまで発展しない陣痛の練習です。痛みの強弱も間隔も安定せず、いつの間にか消えてしまいます。

予定日が近くなってくると、お腹が張ってきたり、お腹の張りとともに痛みを伴うようになったり、腰が痛くなることもあります。陣痛かな?と思っても気づくとなくなっている。これが前駆陣痛です。

夜、眠りに就く前に痛みを感じても、そのまま眠れるようであれば、前駆陣痛である可能性が高いです。陣痛の場合、眠っていても痛みで目が覚めますから安心して眠りに就いてください。ただし、それが微弱陣痛の場合には注意が必要です。

前駆陣痛は、すべてのかたが経験するものではありません。前駆陣痛はリハーサルのようなものだと言いましたが、練習なしでぶっつけ本番となる出産もあります。

また、前駆陣痛があった翌日に本陣痛が始まることもあれば、数週間経って本陣痛が始まることもあるので、本陣痛が始まる目安にはなりません。

ただし、微弱陣痛であった場合、前駆陣痛の痛みと微弱陣痛の痛みの区別がつかないことがあります。前駆陣痛だと思っていたら、実は微弱陣痛で産院に間に合わなかったという事態になってしまっては大変です。急激に出産が進むこともありますので、判断に迷ったり、ちょっと違うなと感じたりしたら、迷わず産院に電話してみましょうね。

赤ちゃんとの対面間近です

陣痛とは、子宮が収縮するときのお腹の張りや痛みのことを言いますね。お腹が痛くなるイメージが強いと思いますが、実は腰痛をうったえる妊婦さんが多く、中にはお腹の痛みより腰痛のほうがひどかったというかたもいるほどです。規則的に腰痛を感じるかたもいれば、途切れることなく出産までずっと腰痛が続くかたもいます。

赤ちゃんは骨盤の中に入り込んで、頭の骨をずらし、体を回転させながら骨盤の中の産道を進みます。このときの骨盤が開くときの痛みや陣痛の子宮収縮が陣痛の際の腰痛に繋がっていると言われています。

陣痛初期段階では、痛む部分を強く押すとかなり楽になります。横向きに寝転がり、握りこぶしを作って痛むところを圧迫しましょう。息を吐くときに強く押すのがコツです。カイロなどで温めても痛みをやわらげることができます。

また、四つん這いのポーズをとると痛みがやわらぎます。そのまま腰を回したり揺らしたりすると痛みがまぎれやすくなります。付き添いのかたがいれば、その状態でマッサージしてもらってもよいでしょう。

リハーサルと本番の判別ポイント

妊娠後期になると腰痛が起こることが増えますが、臨月の腰痛が妊娠による腰痛なのか、前駆陣痛によるものなのか、陣痛によるものなのか、判断する基準が欲しいですよね。

出産や陣痛は人それぞれ違います。痛みの感じかたも人それぞれ違いますよね。100人いれば100通りのお産があります。同じお母さんから生まれても、まったく同じお産はないので、これが判別基準だという明確なものは残念ながらありません。

しかし、前駆陣痛と陣痛をある程度判別することは可能です。両者を見分けるポイントをご紹介しましょう。

    前駆陣痛

  • 不規則で、時間が経過しても一定の間隔にならない
  • 痛みの強弱がなく、1回の波の時間が長くなったり回数が増えたりしない
  • 生理痛の痛みに似ている
    陣痛

  • 時間が経つにつれて規則的になる
  • 痛みは徐々に増し、1回の波の時間が長くなり回数も増える
  • 下腹部から腰全体に痛みが広がる

陣痛かな?と思う痛みを感じたら、陣痛がきた時間と、痛みがある長さ、陣痛と陣痛の間隔をメモしましょう。

痛みが不規則のまま自然となくなってしまったら前駆陣痛です。不規則だった陣痛が、定期的になり30分間隔、20分間隔などのように間隔が狭まってきたら陣痛です。経産婦さんなら15分、初産のかたは10分間隔になったら病院へ連絡しましょう。

メモをとるのが苦手なかたは、スマートフォンの陣痛アプリを使ってみてはいがでしょうか。アプリを起動して、痛みがきたらタップ、痛みが治まったらもう一度タップする。これだけの簡単動作で陣痛の波を記録してくれます。アプリによっては、記録をメールする機能やお知らせ機能などの便利機能がついているものもありますので、気になるかたはためしてみてはいかがでしょうか。

まとめ:不安でいっぱいの妊婦さんへ

妊娠期間も後期に入り、いよいよ臨月を迎えたお母さん。楽しみと不安が入り混じった複雑な心境である上に、お腹の張りや腰痛にも悩まされますね。

臨月の腰痛は、それまでの妊娠期間中の腰痛と違って、前駆陣痛や本陣痛の可能性があるので、腰痛が起こった時間と、痛みの長さ、痛みと痛みの間隔をメモしておくことが大切です。

前駆陣痛だった場合、そこからすぐに本陣痛が始まるとは限らないので、気負いすぎないように気をつけましょう。

本陣痛の場合、腰痛はどんどんつらいものになっていく可能性があります。マッサージや四つん這いのポーズなどを取り入れて、痛みを上手に逃がしてください。陣痛と陣痛の合間にリラックスすることが大切です。

最後に出産に対する不安でいっぱいの妊婦さんへ、大切なお話をしておきます。

あなたのお腹の中にいる赤ちゃんは、実はとてもすごいのですよ。たったひとつの卵子のもとへ向かう数億の精子の中の勝者なのですから。それってすごい生命力だと思いませんか?

そんな小さな命が、狭い産道を通るために、頭の骨をずらし体を回転させながら、生まれたい一心でがんばります。そのためお母さんは、ひどい腰痛を経験するかもしれませんが、出産は赤ちゃんとお母さん初めての共同作業です。陣痛は、お母さんも痛いし苦しいのですが、赤ちゃんも同じように苦しいと感じています。

小さな命ががんばっているのですから、お母さんも負けてはいられませんよね。どのお母さんも、あなたと同じように不安や恐怖を抱えながら出産に臨み、乗り越えました。

どんなにつらい陣痛を経験しても、2人目、3人目と欲しくなるお母さんが多いのは、それだけ陣痛の痛みより赤ちゃんと会える喜びのほうが大きいということですね。

あなたも、赤ちゃんの生命力とがんばりを信じて、赤ちゃんと一緒に陣痛を乗り越えましょう。生まれてしまうとそれまでの痛みが嘘だったかのようになくなってしまいますよ。

どうか、不安を抱えすぎず、赤ちゃんとの対面を楽しみにできるだけの余裕は残しておいてくださいね。その余裕が、よい陣痛の波を呼びます。みなさんが、赤ちゃんと笑顔で対面できることを願っています。その腕に小さな我が子を抱く瞬間を夢見て、陣痛を乗り越えてくださいね。
