夢遊病の治療と原因

夢遊病って子供の病気だとおもっていませんか?確かに5~12歳の子供では、およそ10~15%が夢遊病の経験があるという報告があります。これは脳が未発達な子どものうちは、脳からの指令がスムーズに伝わらずに、夢遊病や夜恐症のような行動をとってしまうことがあるからです。 最近の調査によると、近年、「大人の夢遊病」が増えているそうです。アメリカのスタンフォード大学の調査によると、29.2%の成人に夢遊病の経験があり、3.6%の人は過去1年以内にその経験があったと言われています。脳が完全に発達したはずの大人が、なぜ夢遊病になるのでしょうか。今回は大人の夢遊病の原因と治療方法について調べてみましょう。

夢遊病とは

睡眠中に無意識の状態で起きだし、歩いたり何かをした後に再び就眠するものの、その間の出来事を記憶していない状態を指します。このような夢遊病の多くは、就眠後1時間から3時間のノンレム睡眠時に発生することが多い事が分かっています。壁に向かって一方的に喋ったり外を徘徊したりします。大人の夢遊病の場合は食事を作ったり、お風呂に入ったりして階段を上がりそのまま結局ベッドに入ったりしてしまうこともあるそうです。

注意点

夢遊病の患者を無理やり起こそうとすると、その行動が増強されてしまう恐れがあるので、静かに見守った方が良いでしょう。しかし、大人の場合は暴力へと発展するケースがあるのです。普段は温厚で優しいという人でも、寝ている最中に配偶者に暴力を振るい、怪我をさせてしまう事件もあります。夢遊病の状態は、意識はほとんどなく眠っているのとほぼ同じなので、暴力を振るっている本人は記憶がないことがやっかいな点といえるでしょう。 「無意識に引き起こされる症状だから仕方ない」という考えは非常に危険で、レム睡眠の際に引き起こされる異常行動により、配偶者が危険に晒されるという深刻な結果を引き起こすこともあるのです。もし、夫婦で一緒に寝ていて、力の強い男性が女性に対して暴力を振るえば、怪我や死亡に発展する恐れもあり大変危険です。

夢遊病の原因

大人の夢遊病の原因は、日常の興奮状態のまま眠りに就いてしまうことや、精神のストレスによるものが多いとされています。また、特に原因が見当たらず慢性的で難治性の場合もあるので注意が必要です。また、不眠症やうつ病の人が処方される薬の副作用である事もしばしば報告されています。超短時間睡眠導入剤である、マイスリー、ハルシオン、アモバンなどの副作用として発生する場合もあります。

夢遊病の治療法

大人になって夢遊病が引き起こされるという方は、ほとんどがストレスです。心の不安や心の葛藤により夢遊病になると言われています。まずは溜まり過ぎたストレスを解消させることが一番の治療方法です。ストレスを解消する方法は人によってそれぞれ違いますが、自分にもっともあった方法でリラックスをして、心を落ち着かせることが大事です。睡眠前にすると良い方法をいくつかご紹介しましょう。

ゆっくりと入浴する

シャワーだけでなく、温かい湯船に浸かる事で、昼間に緊張していた神経がゆるやかにほぐされます。身体を温める事により、安眠効果も高まりよりぐっすり眠れるようになるでしょう。ラベンダーやスイートオレンジなど、気持ちをリラックスさせるハーブを入浴剤に使っても良いでしょう。香りの効果は特に女性には好評です。半身浴をすれば、新陳代謝もよくなり、疲れもとれて朝の目覚めもスッキリするはずです。

音楽や読書

昼間の高ぶった神経やイライラを鎮めるためには、自分の好きな本を読んだり、セラピー効果のある音楽を聴く事も有効です。音楽は特に脳の神経を休め、気持ち良くリラックスする事で快感物質ドーパミンの分泌を増やします。ドーパミンが増えるとストレスホルモンを退治してくれます。なるべくリラックス効果の高い、静かな音楽を選びましょう。

寝る前の飲み物

寝る前の飲み物によく寝酒があげられますが、これはおすすめしない習慣です。飲酒は一時的に深く眠れますが、覚醒作用が働いて短時間で起きてしまいます。そのまま安眠できずに翌日の朝の頭痛に変わる事もあります。 寝る前におすすめなのは、お酒よりも豆乳です。温めた豆乳に蜂蜜を混ぜて飲んでみて下さい、豆乳は消化もよく胃の負担になりません。そして少量の蜂蜜はアミノ酸も豊富で寝る前のメラトニンの分泌を増やします。その結果、疲労効果も高まり、新陳代謝が良くなって寝てる間の脂肪燃焼効果が高まるのです。

軽いストレッチ

身体がガチガチのままだと寝てる間も緊張が解けず、睡眠の質が低下します。身体を締め付けない服装をして、ヨガなどのゆっくりとしたストレッチを行いましょう。その時に深く深呼吸を何回か繰り返す事が大切です。寝る前の深呼吸はより身体をリラックスさせ脳の神経を鎮める作用があります。

規則正しい生活

仕事で残業が多い、人間関係がうまくいかない、という時は日常生活も乱れがちになります。暴飲暴食や、お酒によるストレス発散には効果がないという調査もあります。まず、規則正しい生活を心がけましょう。毎朝同じ時刻に朝日を浴びる事で、体内時計がきちんとリセットされ、高血圧の予防にも繋がります。早寝早起きは健康の基本です。生活習慣病予防にも繫がりますから、なるべく規則正しい生活をする事が大切です。
